Rolesville has grown from a small crossroads town into one of Wake County's fastest-expanding communities in a relatively short window, and most of the housing here is brand-new construction in HOA subdivisions like Sanford Creek, Heritage Station, and Averette Field. Slab foundations, attached garages, and standard HVAC and plumbing penetrations are the typical entry points, and, as in other fast-growing edges of the county, we regularly find gaps around these penetrations that were never fully sealed during construction.
What makes Rolesville distinct is how close new development sits to genuinely rural, undeveloped land — creeks, farmland, and wooded parcels still border many of the newer subdivisions directly, sometimes on more than one side. That proximity means displaced field mice, voles, and the occasional Norway rat population move toward new construction here more readily than in more built-out parts of central Wake County, particularly right after a nearby parcel gets cleared for the next phase of a development.
Downtown Rolesville's small older core has a handful of longer-standing homes with more traditional crawl space foundations, but the overwhelming majority of our calls here involve newer slab construction and the perimeter and exclusion issues that come with building fast next to open land. We inspect the property's specific surroundings — what's actually bordering the lot — as much as the house itself.
